"For Sweden" (rallybeetle)

By a vote of 883 to 776, workers at Volkswagen’s Chattanooga factory voted against representation by the United Auto Workers.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I have mixed feelings on this. I am happy that the workers have had multiple chances to determine their relationship with Volkswagen, and will resent all the “actually, they voted wrong” takes.
More personally , I know my own profession ( aviation safety) would be far more difficult without single entities, like unions, acting on behalf and for employee groups. I suspect manufacturing has a similar dynamic.

Pretty close, about the same result as last time. That sort of division can’t be great for esprit de corps.

VW needs to use a different union and/or move to a more union-friendly state. The UAW has too much baggage and has so m
any ridiculous rules that go way too far
Maybe
they should go back to
Westmoreland, PA?

A Union would probably be good for them, but probably not t he UAW.

Has anyone looked at this story from a cross-cultural perspective? I haven’t seen any of the pro-UAW campaign materials. I hope they didn’t use the “li sten up backwards hicks ” approach.

A good amount of that place has been empty since Sony moved out 10+ years ago. Think part of it is Siemens and part of it is an ethanol plant.

Cool
Siemens makes shit for cars. I know they make fuel injectors, and many states have that stupid E10 mandate, so actually would be a good idea for VW to relocate there!
